After writing the recent post Can I use my Bumbo Seat in the Bath, I advised that it was never a good idea to use your Bumbo in the tub but advised that there were plenty of other options for you if you absolutely had to use a seat for your little one.

I know that it can sometimes be hard to bath a child, especially one who cannot sit up yet, with only one pair of hands, and so having a seat can really help out in these situations.  I haven’t used all of the seats that I will mention in a moment but they seem to be the most popular and best value too, so have a look and consider if one of them may be right for you and your little mermaid.

Kiddicare Bath Seat – Best Price £9.99

Kiddicare Bath Seat

Can be used from: 6 Months

This is the actual bath seat that I have and although I can’t say it revolutionised bathtime it certainly helped when I needed it.  I cant remember what age I started to use it with my daughter (who is 2 years old now) but it was given to us by another family when she was already able to sit up on her own, and so I didn’t need the stability that a bumbo seat would give.  This seat is hard and a little slippery but it keeps the little ones from slipping out and falling in the water.  It doesnt suffer from floating or slipping around thanks to the suction cups on the bottom, fix them in when theres a little water in the tub and it will work just fine.  Of course if you have a ribbed bath floor, you may not be able to use this.

It’s very good value and one of the cheapest I will mention today to buy new.

It comes in both boys and girls flavours.

Safety 1st Swivel Bath Seat  - Best Price Amazon £11

Safety 1st Bath Seat Pink

Can be used from: 6 Months

I haven’t ever used this however if I was in the market to buy one now, it’s probably the one I would go for.  To be used only when your son or daughter can sit on their own it provides stability and something to hold on to to allow them to enjoy bath time whilst allowing you access to be able to clean them.  They can also be swiveled around whilst sitting in the chair so they can play or be washed etc.  If I had more than one child to bath at the same time, this would again be a great buy as its extremely reasonably priced at just £11 with free delivery!  And if you have Amazon Prime you can have it tomorrow!

Again this is available in colours suited to both boys and girls.

You can also grab this for the same price at Boots and grab the Advantage Card points.

This “seat” is intended for smaller babies, and for all that it looks like a fancy coloured cheese grater it seems that if its comfort youre looking for this is the one to choose.  Theres another picture coming up so you can judge scale, but it also seems to me that this is a firm favorite amongst parents and the more expensive price tag is justified by the high quality reviews.

It has a non slip base and the mesh warms up very quickly to the temperature of the water and best of all its made from a mould resistant material so its hygienic too, unlike a Bumbo would be in the tub!

Comes in blue and pink and there are options to select colour from the purchase page, there are also many more photos and a video to see.

Dreambaby Premium Bath Seat – Best Price £16 Simple Safety Solutions (p&p not included)

Dreambaby Premium Bath Seat

Can be used from: 6 Months

Average review: 3.7/5 Stars (Amazon Review)

The Dreambaby Premium bath seat is a little pretentiously named for me, but it is popular one among parents who like the fact that baby can be sat in the chair and then secured, rather than trying to sit baby with wriggling legs into something solid.  I know from personal experience trying to get my little one into high chairs when out for lunch, its so much easier when you can sit them down and then secure them!

It has solid suction cups which affix to the bottom of the bath so it will not slide around or topple over.  There is a concern amongst the Amazon reviews that the plastic at the bottom is sharp and cuts into babies legs, so do check out the reviews before making your decision.  There are plenty of others who swear by it.

Comes in blue and pink and is available on Amazon at a cost of £17.66 for the Blue one and £17.99 for the pink one.  It’s a little bit more expensive initially however with Amazon postage is free, so factor that into your decision.

All of the above and more…

If you’re in the market for a Baby Bath Seat but aren’t very excited at paying the prices for brand new ones, there are lots of choices on eBay and if you think about it a lot of these products are used for a few months before the children become too big for them or otherwise grow out of them and so most of the products are nearly new and will be perfect for use by a second family.

I personally aren’t precious about buying used goods and will also sell on my children’s things after they’re done with so check out Baby Bath Seats on eBay and possibly save yourself some money.  You can even put the items back on there and recoup your costs after youre done with them!
